For Our Young Families

• I will work to ensure Utah tax code does not incentivize investors to purchase starter homes through tax advantages that crowd out new home buyers. The people being priced out of Utah today are not hypothetical. They are young families, teachers, nurses and the children and grandchildren of longtime residents.

• I will work to put in place guard rails on zoning laws that produce sub-optimal outcomes for the state as a whole and that make it prohibitive for young families to buy homes. The legislature has a role to provide localities guidance to ensure affordable housing for all such as:

  • Ensuring municipality zoning for new development includes set-asides conducive to starter homes and town homes.

  • Increasing rental transparency so renters and communities know who owns properties to prevent market manipulation.​
