Affordable Housing:
For Our Young Families

"The people being priced out of Utah today are not hypothetical. They are young families, teachers, nurses and the children and grandchildren of longtime residents"

  • Currently housing policy is locally controlled with sub-optimal outcomes for the state as a whole. Zoning laws that make it prohibitive for young families to live, export higher rents and longer commutes to other regions. The legislature has a role to provide localities guidance to ensure affordable housing for all.

    • Ensure municipality zoning includes a portion of new development conducive to starter homes, town homes and fourplexes.

    • Increasing rental transparency so renters and communities know who owns properties to prevent market manipulation.
